The Calling
Women come to the Junior League because they want to give back. Through training, hands-on volunteer experiences, Junior League members gain essential knowledge of community issues and are empowered to develop their potential as lifelong community leaders.
There are many examples of how the League has improved the community. We were a big part of establishing Toledo Smiles, Camp Little Shots, and Polly Fox Academy. Training women to be effective community leaders is our true value and the sustaining impact of the Junior League of Toledo. We know this is true because of the amazing women who work everyday in this community and who have mentored and inspired and challenged us.
We believe in the power of women. We believe in the power of the Junior League mission; that we can empower ourselves through hands-on experience. League members learn to identify problems in the community, to look at those problems objectively and do the research and to take the actions necessary toward impactful, meaningful solutions. It is not always easy or even convenient the demands of a volunteer commitment, but the personal satisfaction is something beyond her own personal, routine world makes that volunteer a more accomplished human being. The League puts a confidence in you and teaches you that anything is possible. The League puts a spirit, an inspiration and commitment in you for life. We are always working to change, for the better, the lives and circumstances around us, and in doing so, we transform ourselves.
