Registration Process and New Member Commitments
Criteria For Membership
The JLT uses only the following criteria for consideration of prospective members: - Prospective members must be at least 21 years of age
- Prospective members must reside within 50 miles of Toledo
Each prospective member should also demonstrate an interest in voluntarism, have a commitment to community service and show an interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation.
Prospective Member Orientation Meeting
All prospective members are encouraged to attend an Orientation meeting. Prospective members will have the opportunity to experience a more in-depth look a the League and to submit a registration packet.

- Payment of new member course fee which includes your annual dues ($140 total)
Prospective members are encouraged to return their registration packets by the established deadline; however, space permitting, new members are typically able to join even after New Member sessions have begun. Any new members joining the course after the established deadline wouldl be required to attend a three-hour catch-up session.
New Member Commitments
All new members participate in a training course designed to provide the new member with a better understanding of the stewardship and the operations of JLT. The New Member Course is comprised of various activities, interactive meetings, education and training programs and community projects of the JLT in order to develop each new member’s commitment to community service and to demonstrate how the JLT operates in partnership with the community. The New Member Program course extends from September through May. JLT welcomes you into an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The requirements for the new member course are listed below. - Attend the Prospective New Member Orientation meeting
- Attend seven (7) new member course meetings. These meetings have generally been held one Thursday evening a month from September through April.
- Attend six (6) General Membership meetings. These meetings have generally been held from September through May, usually the third Monday of every month.
- Attend a scheduled tour of current and past JLT projects
- Attend a committee/ council meeting
- Fulfill a volunteer commitment for Chocolate Soiree
- Attend the Sustainer Wine and Cheese party
